Three ways Fleetcare maintenance and servicing saves you big dollars

20/11/2017 by Mark Schneider in Safety

Some myths die hard. Heard the one about the guy who went on holiday in Bolivia, went out on the town then mysteriously woke up in an ice-filled bath minus one kidney? It's been doing the rounds for decades and it's a load of old nonsense of course.

Here's another one: Fleetcare must be making big margins on its repairs and maintenance service because ... well because that's their business, right? So if I shop around myself I'm bound to get a better deal than they can give me.

Wrong!

Our business is focused on saving you money on maintenance and repairs every time and there are three ways we do that:

1. Bulk pre-negotiated discounts

With over 30,000 vehicles on our books we have the bulk-buying power to negotiate the best possible prices for repairs and maintenance from suppliers.

Take a look at these actual figures for a typical 80,000km service for example. Here the repairer cost is the price the repairer charges you for supplying the oil and doing the work. The client cost is the price you pay for buying the oil and doing it yourself. The Fleetcare cost is the cost of getting the job done through Fleetcare.

Repairer Cost*
Client Cost*
Fleetcare Cost*
Engine Oil - 6.9L required
$123.99
$89.99
$75.90
80W/90 Differential Oil - 4L required
$98.73
$39.99
$34.50
80W/90 Transmission Oil - 4L required
$47.22
$39.99
$27.00
Labour cost for major service
$663.08

$456.16

*Prices are based on labour and material rates, and are correct as of the November 2017.

Pretty convincing, isn't it? Try as you might you'll never be able to match Fleetcare's costs on servicing because you'll never have Fleetcare's negotiating muscle, no matter how much you shop around for a better price. You couldn't even do it cheaper if you did the work yourself!

2. Overseeing repairs and maintenance

Let's face it: you don't have the time to painstakingly check every little detail of your vehicle's maintenance costs to make sure you're getting exactly what you paid for, do you? Well we do!

We go over those invoice and maintenance costs with a fine toothcomb to ensure everything's exactly as it should be.

Here's a real life example: A repairer recently quoted 20 hours for a job that we knew from experience should only take 8 hours. We blew the whistle on this, disputed the invoice and reduced the labour hours back down to 8. That saved our client 12 hours of labour at $95/hour, or a cool $1,140 for the job.

3. Spending the time for comparison quotes

You've got a business to run, so you've got better things to do than get on the phone and get second, third or fourth quotes from repairers, right? Well here at Fleetcare we really can't think of anything better to do than chase up those money-saving quotes for you. That's our business after all.

Here's another actual case study for you: Just recently one of our clients needed a new gearbox for his Isuzu Prime Mover. Our client found a quote from one repairer for $29,317.20. By shopping around for a better price we got a quote from a different repairer for the exact same job for just $8978.71, saving our client a whopping $20,338.29! Impressed? So was our client!

Saving you money every time

Whether it's through our bulk-buying power, our nit-picking attention to detail, or our relentless shopping around for a better deal on repairs, Fleetcare's maintenance and servicing is guaranteed to save you money today and into the future.

In fact if you don't use Fleetcare's maintenance service it could end up costing you an arm and a leg, and perhaps even a kidney for that matter.
