Fleetcare acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.
We are proud to announce the launch of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) – a significant milestone in our commitment to fostering reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Developed by Fleetcare’s RAP working group members, Director and representatives of Reconciliation Australia, the plan aims to scope our sphere of influence and determine Fleetcare’s vision for reconciliation.
The Reflect RAP is more than just a document; it’s a foundation for meaningful action. It outlines Fleetcare’s initial steps toward understanding, respecting, and building strong relationships with First Nations communities.
A Memorable Celebration
The launch event was a moving and inspiring occasion. We were privileged to have Mr. Nick Abraham from Warrang-Bridil perform a heartfelt Welcome to Country, grounding the event in cultural respect and connection.
Vanessa Stasiw from Reconciliation WA, shared their valuable insights on the importance of reconciliation, encouraging us to reflect on our shared history and the role we can play in driving positive change.
One of the event’s highlights was the unveiling of a beautiful artwork by Iesha Wyatt. This piece will serve as a lasting reminder of our commitment and as a symbol of the relationships we aim to strengthen.
We were also proud to collaborate with Kuditj Kitchen, whose delicious food added cultural richness to the day, and Yilay, who produced the striking shirts worn by our Reconciliation Working Group (RWG). These shirts were a symbol of unity and shared purpose and were proudly displayed throughout the event.
Why the Reflect RAP Matters
Our Reflect RAP serves as a roadmap for building cultural awareness and embedding reconciliation into our everyday practices. It focuses on creating opportunities to learn, listen, and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures.
This plan sets the stage for long-term, impactful action, enabling us to reflect on where we are, where we want to go, and how we’ll get there.
What’s Next?
Launching the Reflect RAP is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we will focus on implementing the commitments outlined in the plan. These include:
- Increasing cultural awareness and education among our staff.
- Building stronger partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Reflecting on and improving our workplace practices to foster inclusivity.
