Spring school holiday activities

The weather is warming up, and the sun starting to appear again in most major cities. Spring is the perfect time to get the kids out in the great outdoors.

What activities can you enjoy with your kids this school holidays to make the most of the better weather? We have some fun outdoor activity ideas that are sure to keep everyone happy!

  • Head to a theme parks or water park – There are plenty of amazing theme and water parks across Australia, offering intense thrill rides and water slides, entertaining shows and so much more. You can travel to the Gold Coast, Australia’s theme park capital, or go to a park elsewhere like Adventureworld in Perth or Luna Park in Sydney.
  • Go exploring at a National Park – A great day trip idea is to take the kids out to a National Park close to your city – many have nature tours and educational activities to get children interested in conservation. Some national parks close to capital cities are:
    o Royal National Park (Sydney)
o Organ Pipes National Park (Melbourne)
o Fort Lytton National park (Brisbane)
    o Yanchep National Park (Perth)
    o Belair National Park (Adelaide)
  • Have a picnic at the local park – getting some sunshine this school holidays doesn’t need to be time consuming or expensive. Why not head down to a local park with a picnic? The kids can play on the playground and you can relax in the sun.
  • Get gardening – If your children are interested in getting their hands dirty, getting them out in the garden will work out some excess energy while teaching them about plants and nature. Why not give them a patch in your garden to make their own, or plant a veggie patch so they can see how food is grown?
  • Go for a swim – If the weather is warm enough, head down to a public pool, or if you are lucky enough, take a dip in your own backyard pool. There are often swimming lesson programs run in the school holidays for you to take advantage of as well!
