Happy Halloween!

That spookiest day of the year is almost here! But what is it all about?

Jack O LanternHalloween is one of the most recognized events in the world, only second to Christmas, Halloween is a $1 Billion dollar industry with consumers that want to be a part of the scariest day the year! One of the oldest holiday celebrations, All Hallows' Eve can be traced back to the Celtics, pagans who lived in England, Ireland and Northern France over 2,000 years ago. On the last day of their year, October 31, a festival was held to honour Samhain, Lord of the Dead. On this day it was believed the souls of the dead would return home to walk the earth.

Jack o' lanterns, bobbing for apples and trick or treating are just some Halloween customs which have been around for centuries. Halloween is fast becoming a popular occasion in Australia, with regular Halloween events, parades and fetes at schools, house decorations, parties, and groups of children and teenagers dressed up in Halloween costumes, trick or treating through local streets. With more Halloween events becoming more common, it can be great excuse to get out and about as the weather becomes warmer! With many local councils having Halloween fairs trick or treating won't be the only Halloween activity this year.
