Earth Day

Earth Day is celebrated globally each year on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental conservation and protection. Earth Day originated in the United States in 1970, and is now celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.

Love EarthYou can celebrate Earth Day in many ways – either by taking part in one of the many events happening globally (see for details), or simply doing your bit for the environment.

You could:

Conserve electricity – simply by turning lights off when you leave a room and not using power during peak periods you can greatly reduce the strain on our electricity network, while using less greenhouse gasses.

Save water – taking a shorter shower or re-using waste water are great ways of ensuring that we’ll have plenty of fresh water for generations to come.

Clean up rubbish – pick up rubbish from your local park, street or motorway to keep or environment clean!
