2013 V8 Supercar ChampionshipThe V8’s, which has typically been a head to head battle between Ford and Holden, has seen a revision of regulations and Nissan and Mercedes entering the series in 2013.

There have been many contenders in this year’s season, with 13 different race winners from eight teams in this season’s 11 championship rounds to date.  The 2013 Bathurst 1000 saw an upset with Sydneysider Mark Winterbottom upstaging Jamie Whincup to end Holden’s domination of Mount Panorama. Winterbottom is now determined to stop Whincup winning a record equalling 5th title.

Winterbottom, competing in the Pepsi Max team, one of four front runners still in the race for the cup, along with Whincup and Craig Lowndes from Holden, along with Pepsi teammate Will Davidson. With only three more races to go in the 2013 season (Armor All Gold Cost 600 on 25-27 October, Phillip Island 360 on 22-24 November and Sydney 500 on 6-8 December), the championship will likely be decided in Sydney in December.
