Garth and Leanne Tander have finished 1st and 2nd respectively in their Motorsport Championships.
It has been a long racing season for the pair, who in 2007 made Motorsport history by becoming the first husband and wife racing drivers to lead Australia's premier motor racing categories. Leanne also made history, becoming the first woman to win an F3 race and later on to lead the battle for the prestigious CAMS Gold Star in the Formula 3 Series.
Garth went into the V8 Supercar Championship Grand Finale in second place, 7 points behind leader Whincup and 14 points ahead of third-placed Lowndes. Going into the finale, Tander was regarded as the best V8 Supercar driver yet to have won a crown. And now he has.
Leanne finished her 2007 racing season in 2nd place, a mere two points behind. In what was a dramatic close to a nip and tuck championship, Tim Macrow snatched the title from Tander's grasp.
