How does GPS Fleet Tracking Work?

A tracking device linked to the GSM Telstra network is fitted to each vehicle. Every 20 seconds the tracking device records the date, time, location (latitude & longitude), heading direction, altitude and speed (km/per hour) of the vehicle in which it is fitted.

This Data is then transferred directly to your Fleetmanager dashboard allowing you to monitor your fleet status in real time. The Fleetmanager GPS system is integrated with the GSM Telstra network, offering coverage to over 92% of Australia’s population.

How can GPS Fleet Tracking Benefit my Company?

With GPS you’re always kept in the loop on your fleet’s activity. The following monitoring tools allow you to stay informed and up to date on your fleet status, 24 hours a day seven days a week. Email and/or SMS alerts will be sent automatically should any of your predefined parameters be broken. These constructs include:

• Travelling - A one off alert that notifies you if a vehicle has started travel.
• Out of designated zone – A fleet alert will be sent should any vehicles cross predefined geographical boundaries of your choice. Ensuring all fleet members stay within designated areas.
• Time Frame – Notifies you if vehicles are operating outside of predefined timeframes, hours of the day, weekends etc.
• Speeding – Set a maximum speed and receives an alert should a vehicle exceed that speed.
• Restricted Zone – Notification if a vehicle enters a restricted suburb or address.

The Power of Google Maps

The GPS tracking map interface is powered by Google Maps, giving you comprehensive road overlay and satellite imagery. By integrating our Fleetcare Finder software we provide all users with Points Of Interest (POI).

These include toll locations, fuel providers, fixed speed camera and red light camera locations. Utilizing POIs helps increase the efficiency of your fleet and drive down operating costs.

Privacy

It is your obligation to ensure that you meet any privacy obligation or notifications that you may be required to make now or in the future. Our privacy shadow function helps you maintain such privacy obligations, protecting your employees' privacy rights and giving you legal piece of mind.

Privacy shadow - Fleetmanager has an inbuilt privacy function that allows you to define time zone and days when you can’t see when a vehicle is operating. Please note that when this is activated you will not have any real-time or historical access during the shadow. In cases of emergency Fleetcare will be able to pole the vehicle for its current location.
