2012 brings with it New Years resolutions, the London Olympics and new models of cars! Here are just a handful of models that will be new to the Australian market next year.
Holden Volt
This will be Holden’s first Electric Vehicle to hit Australian shores. It runs for approximately 64km in EV mode, which should be enough for daily commutes, and then does much more on the 1.4L petrol engine.
Honda Jazz Hybrid
The Hybrid version of the popular Jazz is due in February next year, following Honda’s plan to introduce more hybrid models to the market. Offering outstanding fuel economy of just 3.3L/100km and C02 emissions a low 77g/km, this looks to be a hit in the small car market.
Ford Figo
Holden Malibu
Another new one for Holden, production of this mid sized car has already begun. At the moment, there are only plans for the sedan (sorry coupe fans) and it is expected to get the new 136kW/245Nm 2.5-litre four-cylinder direct-injected Ecotec engine. The Malibu will go on sale in 100 countries, making it one of General Motor’s most critical models.
Mazda CX-5
Aiming to set a new efficiency benchmark in the SUV market, the Mazda CX-5 is said to consume as little as 4.5L/100km and emit less than 120g/km of CO2 in entry-level front-wheel drive diesel manual form. This great fuel efficiency doesn’t mean it’s short on performance either, with its 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 129kW and no less than 420Nm of torque from just 2000rpm.
